Adelboden has its own rhythm through the year. Some moments are shaped by long-standing traditions, others bring movement, food, markets, music or winter energy into the village.
These are not everyday experiences, but dates worth planning around — the moments that bring Adelboden together for a day, a weekend or a season. Some are small and local, others fill the whole village. All offer a glimpse of the valley at its most alive.
Wild 55 by UTMB
12 September 2026
Once a year, Adelboden becomes a fixture on the international trail running calendar for a day. The Wild 55 sets off from the village at 8 a.m., climbing first up the legendary Chuenisbärgli World Cup ski run before continuing along the Via Alpina trail through the alpine pastures of the Bernese Oberland.
55 kilometres, 3,300 metres of elevation gain — part of something bigger: the Wild 55 is just one of several races that make up Wildstrubel by UTMB®, which links the destinations of Adelboden, Lenk, Kandersteg, Leukerbad and Crans-Montana over race weekend, from the Wild 10 to the Wild 110.
Even without taking to the start line yourself, there's plenty to experience: finish-line arrivals, aid stations and the atmosphere along the course make watching just as memorable as racing.

Swiss Chamber Music Festival
September 11–20, 2026
For ten days, Adelboden becomes a stage for Switzerland's most promising young chamber music ensembles. The festival grows out of the renowned ORPHEUS Swiss Chamber Music Competition, whose prize-winning ensembles perform across Adelboden, Frutigen and Kandersteg at venues as varied as they are atmospheric, including the village church.
Beyond the prize-winner concerts, the programme extends into framework concerts with established ensembles, cross-genre projects and a festival piano set up in the heart of the village — open to be played by anyone. It's a programme that reaches well beyond the conventional concert format, drawing in newcomers and longtime chamber music lovers alike.

The traditional autumn market along the Dorfstrasse, with regional food, craft, market stalls and a lively village atmosphere. A good moment to see Adelboden as the season turns quieter, but the village gathers again.

Culinary Hike
June 2027
A summer day made for appetite, fresh air and discovery. Each June, Adelboden celebrates the start of the season with a guided culinary walk through the valley — from the foot of the Engstligen Falls towards the Lohner village.
Along the way, local guides and hosts share small insights into Adelboden’s culinary world, while selected restaurants and producers serve an eight-course experience with wine pairing, from aperitif to dessert. Bryn Williams at The Cambrian is one of the participating kitchens, alongside some of the region’s most celebrated addresses.
It is a sociable, seasonal day: part gentle hike, part tasting experience, part glimpse into how Adelboden eats, gathers and celebrates summer. Groups start between 11am and 2pm, with the preferred slot selected when booking.
Places are limited. Tickets can be booked directly via the official Adelboden website.

Vogellisi Berglauf
11 July 2027
A summer race up to Sillerenbühl
Each July, the Vogellisi Berglauf brings a different kind of energy to Adelboden. Runners and walkers set off from the village and make their way up towards Sillerenbühl — through valley paths, mountain terrain and views that open wider with every metre climbed.
The classic mountain run covers 12.6 kilometres and 860 metres of elevation, with relay, Nordic walking and children’s races also part of the day. It is challenging, local and full of mountain spirit — less about speed alone, and more about the shared feeling of moving upwards together.
For guests who run, walk or simply enjoy the atmosphere of a summer race day, it is a good moment to see Adelboden in motion.
